The Punjab government announced Tuesday that it will grant a paid holiday on October 5 for employees registered as voters in Haryana to enable them to vote in the upcoming assembly elections. This decision is aimed at facilitating participation in the democratic process in the neighboring state.
Haryana's assembly elections, covering 90 seats, will take place on October 5, with votes set to be counted on October 8. The official statement from the Punjab government emphasized that this holiday would not be deducted from the employees' leave accounts.
According to the release, any government officer or employee who is a registered voter in Haryana, including those working in Punjab's government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions, can avail of the special holiday by presenting their voter identity card to the competent authority.
