Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has raised concerns over the inefficacy of door-to-door garbage collection services, addressing a letter to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner Ashwani Kumar on Tuesday. Oberoi's letter highlights numerous complaints from councillors and residents about unattended garbage piles across the city.
Describing the situation as a 'grave dereliction of duty,' Oberoi emphasized the potential health risks posed by the unhygienic conditions, including diseases such as dengue. She personally inspected several localities in recent weeks, confirming that waste collection agencies are failing in their duties.
Oberoi has demanded an explanation from the MCD Commissioner and a swift resolution to the problem, setting a deadline for the commissioner's response by 5 pm on Thursday, September 26.
