In a disturbing incident in Maharashtra's Thane district, police have apprehended a man accused of kidnapping a two-year-old boy after his extramarital affair with the child's mother came to an end, authorities announced on Tuesday.

The young boy was successfully rescued within hours from the New Panvel area on Monday night. The 29-year-old suspect, Abdul Samad Hazarat Ali Shah, who works as a cab driver, was arrested in Mumbra, police officials confirmed.

Investigators revealed that Shah abducted the child while he was playing outside his home in Deonar and hid him in Navi Mumbai. The mother filed a police complaint, leading to the formation of two search teams covering Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane. During interrogation, Shah confessed he kidnapped the child as a reaction to the end of his affair with the boy's mother.
