In a significant setback for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the High Court has upheld Governor Thaawarchand's approval for an investigation into alleged irregularities in a site allotment case. Siddaramaiah's petition challenging the gubernatorial order was dismissed, with the court stating that there was no lack of application of mind in the Governor's decision.
The investigation pertains to the allotment of 14 prime sites to the Chief Minister's wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority. Siddaramaiah contended that the approval, granted under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 218 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, was a result of political vendetta by the opposition.
However, the High Court ruled that the complainants, who include Pradeep Kumar S P, T J Abraham, and Snehamayi Krishna, were justified in seeking approval from the Governor. Despite the ruling, Siddaramaiah insists on his innocence and plans to consult legal experts for further action.
