Delhi High Court Dismisses Petition Against Maharani of Jhansi Statue
The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition by the Shahi Idgah (Waqf) Managing Committee opposing the installation of a Maharani of Jhansi statue at Shahi Idgah Park. The court stated the committee had no legal grounds and upheld the Delhi Development Authority’s jurisdiction over the park for public use.

The Delhi High Court has rejected a petition filed by the Shahi Idgah (Waqf) Managing Committee seeking to halt the installation of a statue of Maharani of Jhansi inside Shahi Idgah Park at Sadar Bazar.
The committee claimed the park was waqf property used for offering namaz and could accommodate up to 50,000 people. However, the court ruled that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has jurisdiction over the property and the petition lacked cause of action.
Justice Dharmesh Sharma emphasized that the petitioner's rights to offer prayers were not being endangered and criticized the Delhi Minority Commission's status quo order as unauthorized.
