Shiv Sena Workers Celebrate Police Encounter of Sexual Assault Accused

Shiv Sena workers erupted in celebratory firecrackers and sweets distribution on Saturday, marking the death of Akshay Shinde, accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case, during an alleged police encounter.

The celebrations included public praise for Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's leadership and the police's handling of the incident. Pune Shiv Sena chief Pramod Bhangire emphasized that this celebratory gesture aimed to boost the morale of state law enforcement.

Bhangire also took the opportunity to criticize the Opposition for their scrutiny of the encounter. He urged political rivals to back the police instead of sowing doubts about their actions. Shinde was reportedly killed after attempting to grab a policeman's gun while being escorted for further investigation based on his former wife's complaint.
