On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court reprimanded Delhi University and other local authorities for failing to act against the defacement of public property amid ongoing student union elections.

The court orally instructed DU to issue immediate disqualification notices and to recover damages from those responsible. Furthermore, the Delhi Metro and MCD were told to provide the names of the defacers.

The court directed the Chief Election Officer of DU to attend the following day's hearing on a plea seeking action against candidates damaging public property.
