Kremlin Warns of Middle East Destabilisation Due to Israeli Strikes
The Kremlin has expressed significant concern over Israeli strikes on Lebanon, warning of potential regional destabilization in the Middle East. Russia condemned these acts as dangerous, urging immediate cessation of hostilities to prevent widespread conflict. Tensions have heightened following recent Israeli attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
The Kremlin has issued a stark warning that Israeli strikes on Lebanon could destabilize the entire Middle East and escalate the conflict further.
On Tuesday, Israel targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, prompting retaliatory attacks on military facilities in northern Israel from the Iran-supported group. This exchange follows a deadly Israeli airstrike against Hezbollah, which resulted in hundreds of casualties. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov highlighted the extreme danger of expanding conflict and regional destabilization, expressing profound concern.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova labeled the strikes as "indiscriminate" and emphasized the need for immediate cessation of hostilities to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control. She urged international coordination to avert a larger crisis, stressing Russia's willingness to cooperate with global and regional partners. Russia's relationship with Iran and its stand on Israel's actions in Gaza has further strained its ties with Israel.
