Three-day event equips 25 state officials with essential cybersecurity skills to protect e-governance systems and critical infrastructure.

A three-day Cyber Security and Best Practices Workshop for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) from various departments of the Government of Uttarakhand is being held from September 23-25, 2024, at the Civil Services Institute, Dehradun. Organized by the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA), Department of IT, Government of Uttarakhand, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the workshop focuses on enhancing cybersecurity preparedness among 25 participants representing over 20 state departments.

Inauguration and Focus on Cybersecurity

The workshop was inaugurated by Smt. Nitika Khandelwal, IAS, Director of ITDA, emphasized the importance of safeguarding the state's digital infrastructure and e-governance services against evolving cyber threats. She highlighted the need for capacity-building among government officers to mitigate cyber risks effectively.

NeGD's Cybersecurity Training Program for CISOs

This event is part of the State Capacity Building Series led by NeGD, aimed at enhancing cybersecurity resilience across state government departments. The program focuses on strengthening the cybersecurity frameworks and risk management strategies employed by various government departments to address and manage cyber risks.

Program Overview and Key Objectives:

The three-day workshop is designed to:

Raise awareness of cybersecurity governance and risk management frameworks.

Equip participants with practical skills in network, cloud, and endpoint security.

Provide in-depth sessions on data protection and application security to safeguard sensitive information.

Train officials on Cyber Crisis Management Plans (CCMP) for effective incident response.

Address identity and access management challenges to secure digital systems across departments.

Key Highlights:

The workshop focuses on securing critical government infrastructure and improving the cyber defense capabilities of state departments.

Participants are trained on national cybersecurity standards and guidelines, ensuring compliance with CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) protocols and legal frameworks.

Practical sessions aim to enhance cybersecurity strategies adopted by government departments in Uttarakhand.

Sessions on cybersecurity audits, data governance, and incident response frameworks will further equip participants to secure their systems.

This training marks a significant step toward building a robust cybersecurity framework for the Government of Uttarakhand, contributing to the Digital India initiative to create a secure and empowered digital infrastructure across the nation.
