Liquor Smuggling Suspect Arrested After Ghazipur Shootout

A man wanted for the alleged killing of two Railway Protection Force constables was arrested following a police encounter in Ghazipur. The suspect was seriously injured during the operation, a senior official confirmed on Monday.
The individual is suspected to be involved in liquor smuggling and was sent to a hospital for treatment following the encounter in the Dildar Nagar police station area of Ghazipur, according to officials.
The operation was executed by the Noida unit of Uttar Pradesh STF in collaboration with Ghazipur Police, Additional Director General (Law and Order and STF) Amitabh Yash said. Constables Javed Khan and Pramod Kumar, who were trying to stop illegal liquor smuggling on the Barmer Guwahati Express, were fatally attacked and thrown off the moving train, the officials reported. The arrested man has been identified as Mohammad Zahid alias Sonu, who carried a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh.
