Around 400 militants from the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) are set to lay down their arms before Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha in Sepahijala district on Tuesday, officials confirmed.

This significant surrender follows the signing of a memorandum of settlement with the Centre and state government in New Delhi, witnessed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on September 4.

The militants will surrender at the headquarters of the 7th battalion of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) in Jampuijala. Senior officials, including a senior police officer, stated that the leaders of these outlawed groups are committed to paving the way towards lasting peace.

Over the past two decades, these groups wreaked havoc in the state, causing massive displacements, particularly among non-tribals. The Centre has announced a financial package of Rs 250 crore for the rehabilitation of these militants.
