West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has levelled serious accusations against the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), claiming the central government entity is exacerbating the flood situation in the state by releasing excessive water from its dams.

Banerjee criticized the central government's handling of the issue and expressed concerns over their alleged attempts to privatize DVC. She demanded that a fraction of funds allocated during elections be redirected to tackle the ongoing flood crisis and to implement the Ganga Action Plan.

In a recent administrative meeting, she directed her administration to provide relief to affected people and announced plans to construct 11 lakh houses and compensate farmers for their losses. Banerjee highlighted that the state is closely monitoring the situation around the clock.
