Police Constable Arrested for Alleged Assault on Nurse in Odisha

A constable named Jitendra Kumar Biswal was arrested in Jajpur district, Odisha, for allegedly assaulting a nurse who rejected his advances. The nurse had previously lodged a complaint stating that he had been harassing her for a year. The police have registered a case and started an investigation.

A constable was arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting a woman after she rejected his advances in Odisha's Jajpur district, police reported.

The victim, a nurse at Mangalpur community health centre (CHC), alleged that the constable had been harassing her for the past year, pressuring her for a relationship.

She claimed the constable barged into her rented house at Mangalpur bazaar on Sunday night and made unwanted advances. When she refused, he allegedly assaulted her. The woman decided to file a complaint after the incident.

The accused, identified as Jitendra Kumar Biswal, was arrested following the nurse's complaint. Mangalpur police registered a case and began an investigation. Inspector-in-Charge Chinmayee Sahu confirmed the arrest and stated that the victim's statement was recorded, and a medical examination was conducted.
