CBI Takes Over High-Profile Murder Case on High Court Order
The Bombay High Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the murder investigation of former Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar. The case, originally under Mumbai Police, involves businessman Mauris Noronha who shot Ghosalkar during a Facebook Live session and then committed suicide. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially taken over the murder case of former Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar on the directive of the Bombay High Court, sources confirmed Monday.
Earlier this month, the High Court highlighted lapses in the Mumbai Police investigation, ordering the case be transferred. Ghosalkar was shot dead during a Facebook Live session on February 8 by local businessman Mauris Noronha, who then killed himself.
The CBI has inherited the FIR filed by the Mumbai Police, which named Noronha as the sole suspect. The court stressed the need for a comprehensive probe, citing various unattended leads and potential miscarriage of justice.
