A bag containing Rs 20 lakh in cash was discovered abandoned in a coach of a local train in Mumbai on Monday, according to police reports.

Passengers spotted the unattended bag in a second-class compartment of the Asangaon-CSMT local train at around 10 PM on Sunday. A woman among the passengers directed others to inform the railway police as they were about to alight at Kalyan station. The bag was subsequently handed over to police at the Kalyan GRP station.

Following standard procedures, police officials examined the bag and found seven bundles of Rs 500 currency notes, a box of sweets, and some medicines. A search has been initiated to find the rightful owner of the bag.
