The City of Cape Town is actively working to empower residents by delivering approximately 12,000 title deeds to qualifying beneficiaries through an innovative title deeds program. Significant progress has been made in this campaign, with the city focused on delivering "one title deed at a time." Councillor Carl Pophaim, MMC for Human Settlements, emphasized the city's commitment to supporting residents.

"Our mission of empowering residents is bearing fruit, and we appreciate the collaboration from beneficiaries, city staff, and all stakeholders. We look forward to assisting more residents across various communities," he stated. This past weekend, the campaign visited Leonsdale to hand over title deeds, with plans to reach more areas in the coming weeks, including Samora Machel and Delft. “Our teams have been working hard, and we are excited about empowering many more beneficiaries,” Pophaim added.

Residents eligible for title deeds should follow these steps to receive theirs:
1. Identify the recognized title deed agents in your area.
2. Prepare the necessary documents:
- Owner's ID and spouse's ID (if applicable).
- Marriage certificate (if applicable).
- If the owner is deceased, provide a letter of authority and death certificate.
Residents can also bring required documents to the Human Settlements Kiosk at the Cape Town Civic Centre from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 12:00. For further assistance or to verify the legitimacy of agents, contact 021 444 0333, email title.deeds@capetown.gov.za, or visit the local housing office. This initiative not only aims to enhance property ownership but also fosters community stability and empowerment throughout Cape Town.
