Lithuania has bolstered its defense capabilities by signing an agreement with US ammunition producer Northrop Grumman, amidst growing tensions due to Russia's war in Ukraine.
The deal was formalized in Vilnius by Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte and Northrop Grumman Vice President Steve O'Bryan. The agreement focuses on developing and supplying medium-caliber ammunition.
Simonyte emphasized the project's value to Lithuania and the region. Lithuania remains a significant buyer of US arms, with acquisitions worth over 1.3 billion euros. This deal follows another with Rheinmetall for a 155mm mortar shell plant, expected to generate 150 jobs.
