Congress Accuses BJP States of Cronyism in Electricity Tenders
The Congress has accused BJP-ruled states of designing electricity tenders in Rajasthan and Maharashtra to limit bidders, favoring the Adani Group. Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh claimed these moves benefit large players like Adani, reduce competition, and harm consumers. Adani Group has denied any wrongdoing, asserting compliance with legal norms.

The Congress on Monday alleged that two large electricity tenders in Rajasthan and Maharashtra have been tailored to restrict the number of bidders, effectively funneling taxpayer revenues to the Adani Group.
Congress general secretary in-charge communications, Jairam Ramesh, indicated an escalating trend in BJP-governed states to advantage 'the prime minister's close friends' financially.
Ramesh explained that the tenders in Rajasthan and Maharashtra are designed to benefit big players like Adani, curtailing smaller competitors especially in the renewable energy sector. He emphasized that this would stifle competition and increase oligopolization, raising consumer prices long-term. The Adani Group, however, dismissed these claims, asserting compliance with legal standards.
