Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa is set to meet her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in New York to call for enhanced security measures following the stabbing of a Japanese schoolboy in China, as reported by public broadcaster NHK.
The child, attending a Japanese school, succumbed to his injuries last week in Shenzhen, located in southern China. This marks the second attack near Japanese educational centers in the country in recent months.
Following the tragic incident, some Japanese companies based in China have offered to repatriate their staff and families, Reuters reported, citing growing concerns about safety as diplomatic relations between the two nations remain tense.
