A second suspect in the high-profile Sultanpur jewellery store robbery case was killed during a police encounter in Unnao on Monday, according to a senior official.

The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police engaged in a shootout with the suspects involved in the August 28 theft at Bharat Jewellers in Sultanpur. Another accused, Mangesh Yadav, was previously killed by the STF on September 5, causing a political uproar as parties like the Samajwadi Party and Congress labeled the encounter 'fake.'

Additional Director General of Police (STF and Law and Order) Amitabh Yash reported that Anuj Pratap Singh, the latest accused, was critically injured and later declared dead at the district hospital. Meanwhile, investigations continue with forensic and police involvement to wrap up the case.
