Firefighter Killed by Drone Blast in Luhansk, Injuries Reported
A Ukrainian drone attack in the Russia-controlled Luhansk region resulted in the death of a firefighter and injuries to two others. The blast occurred while Vyacheslav Glazunov was extinguishing a fire. Additional incidents in the Belgorod region included shelling that wounded ten civilians.
One firefighter was killed, and two others were injured by a Ukrainian drone in the Russia-controlled Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine, according to the Russian Emergencies Ministry on Sunday.
The drone's explosives detonated when Vyacheslav Glazunov, 33, was extinguishing a fire in the Novoaidar district, which had been triggered by fallen drones, the ministry said on Telegram. In a separate incident, ten civilians, including one local official and seven self-defense volunteers, were wounded in the village of Cheremoshnoye in Russia's Belgorod region following a Ukrainian shelling, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
Several Russian regions, including Belgorod and Kursk, which border Ukraine, have established territorial defense units to increase security and resist sabotage activities since Moscow initiated what it calls a 'special military operation' in Ukraine in February 2022.
