Life Imprisonment for Man in Odisha for Raping Four-Year-Old

A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a four-year-old girl in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district. In another similar case in Phulbani, a 62-year-old man received a 20-year jail term for raping a 9-year-old girl. Both verdicts were delivered by special POCSO courts.

A 35-year-old man was handed a life sentence by a court in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district for raping a four-year-old girl. The incident occurred in January 2019 when the girl was alone at home. The perpetrator lured her with biscuits and took her to a nearby forest.

Special Public Prosecutor Manaranjan Pattnayak shared that the court's decision was based on the victim's statements, witness testimonies, and medical reports. Judge Santosh Kumar Nayak also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict.

In another tragic incident in Phulbani, a 62-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping a nine-year-old girl. This verdict, too, was delivered by a special POCSO court, accompanied by a fine of Rs 15,000.
