In a significant crack down on illegal cattle smuggling, five persons were arrested in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon district, according to a senior police official on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, the joint effort of City Kotwali and Cyber Cell personnel resulted in the interception of a truck carrying 35 bovines on the CIT bypass Rajnandgaon road, Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg stated.

The police apprehended Mohammad Shafaqat (43), Rakesh Sudhakar Sengole (43), Raju Pal (45), natives of Nagpur, and Indrajit Dahriya and Shailendra Bharti (25), from Bhilai, after they failed to provide necessary documents for transporting the cattle.
