Karnataka High Court's Justice V Srishananda has expressed regret over controversial remarks made during judicial proceedings, which have recently gone viral and drawn the attention of the Supreme Court.
On September 20, a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, took serious note of two videos showing the High Court judge making comments in open court. The bench has sought a detailed report from the Registrar General of the High Court regarding the incident.
In one video, Justice Srishananda is seen referring to a Bengaluru locality as 'Pakistan.' Addressing the issue on Saturday, Justice Srishananda stated that these observations were shared out of context on social media. He emphasized that his comments were unintentional and apologized for any offense caused.
Members of the Advocates' Association, Bengaluru (AAB) were present during the proceedings and highlighted the issue of misleading headlines by YouTubers that further propagated the controversy.
