Navi Mumbai Residents Arrested for Circulating Counterfeit Currency

A man and a woman in Navi Mumbai have been arrested for possessing and circulating Rs 81,000 worth of counterfeit currency notes. Police seized additional materials used for creating fake currency. An FIR has been registered, and police are investigating a potential larger network involved in the crime.

In a significant breakthrough, Navi Mumbai police have apprehended a man and a woman for allegedly possessing and circulating counterfeit currency notes, officials stated on Sunday.

The suspects were arrested near New Panvel on Friday, and fake currency worth Rs 81,000 was confiscated from their possession. Authorities also found accessories used to produce the counterfeit notes, confirmed a Rabale MIDC police station official.

The duo has been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, including those related to the possession and creation of forged currency. Investigations are underway to determine whether a larger counterfeiting ring is involved.
