CBI officials intensified their investigation into the alleged rape-murder at RG Kar Medical College by interrogating two doctors, Dr. Birupaksha Biswas and Dr. Avik Dey, known to be close to the institution's former principal, Sandip Ghosh.

The questioning took place at the CBI's CGO Complex office in Salt Lake. Both doctors were separately interviewed about their presence at the hospital on August 9, despite not having any official duties that day.

Biswas and Dey are identified as members of the 'North Bengal lobby,' a group accused of multiple illicit activities within West Bengal's medical institutions. Biswas was recently reassigned from Burdwan Medical College to a distant facility in Kakdwip. Additionally, the two, along with Dr. Ranjit Saha, are facing charges under Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for allegedly threatening students.
