Top commanders of the Indian Navy have resolved to significantly bolster the force's combat prowess in the Indian Ocean. This comes in response to China's increasing forays into the region and the broader geopolitical power play within the Indo-Pacific.
The decision to enhance India's combat capabilities was taken after extensive deliberations at a four-day naval commanders' conference, which concluded on Friday, according to officials. The conference focused on ensuring maritime security and coastal defence through strong synergy with the Coast Guard and other maritime agencies.
Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi emphasized the need for a well-balanced, multi-dimensional, and seamlessly networked force to protect national maritime interests. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reiterated the importance of being prepared for any security challenges given the volatile global scenario, underlining the role of a strong naval capability in protecting economic and national interests.
