The Supreme Court Collegium has ushered in a wave of new judicial leadership by appointing chief justices at seven high courts, including the Delhi High Court, this Saturday.
A key move involves Justice M S Ramachandra Rao, previously presiding over the Himachal Pradesh High Court, being transferred as the chief justice of the Jharkhand High Court. This follows the Jharkhand government's appeal to the Supreme Court concerning the non-implementation of the Collegium's earlier recommendation.
The appointments come as part of adjustments to the Collegium's recommendations made on July 11. Newly elevated to chief justice positions are Justice Manmohan for the Delhi High Court, Justice Rajiv Shakdher for the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar for the Kerala High Court, and several others, marking a substantial reshuffle in the nation's judiciary.
