Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reiterated his government's stringent stance on law and order, warning of severe consequences for police negligence. He stressed that maintaining the rule of law remains a 'top priority' for the NDA government during a critical review meeting of the home department.
Amid opposition allegations of deteriorating law and order, Kumar noted a reduction in crime related to land disputes, attributing this to a state-wide aerial survey and land settlement drive. He also directed enhanced night patrolling and regular inspections by senior police officials.
Kumar further revealed plans to bolster the police force with 229,139 new posts, addressing the current staffing gap, and highlighted the significant representation of women in Bihar Police. Additionally, he announced a Rs 72.47 crore development project for the Punaura Dham Janki Mandir in Sitamarhi district, a key Hindu pilgrimage site.
