The Congress on Saturday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their ''silence'' on alleged sexual assaults and other crimes against women in BJP-ruled states, including Odisha.
Congress leader Ajoy Kumar stated that in Odisha, the fiancee of an Army captain was misbehaved with at a police station, where she and her partner were later beaten up. Kumar added that a letter penned by an Army officer to a high court judge pleaded for justice, yet the top leadership remained non-responsive.
Furthermore, Kumar highlighted incidents from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and Manipur where Army personnel and their families were subjected to severe violence and inhumane treatment, asserting that such acts reflect poorly on the supposed governance under the BJP.
