Protests in West Bengal: A Demand for Justice and Transparency

The unprecedented protests in West Bengal, sparked by the rape and murder of a trainee doctor, highlight the need for a Left, democratic opposition, according to CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya.
In a PTI interview, Bhattacharya noted that civil society members steering the protests have kept political parties, notably the BJP, at bay.
The month-long protests by junior doctors seek justice and transparency in the healthcare system and call attention to women's safety in the workplace.
