Kiren Rijiju Appeals for Peace in Ethnic Violence-Hit Manipur

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has appealed to the people of Manipur, ravaged by ethnic violence, to lay down their arms and seek a peaceful solution through negotiations.
Speaking at the North East Students' Festival organized by NGO 'My Home India', Rijiju highlighted the unprecedented development in the northeast under the Narendra Modi administration, calling it a golden opportunity for the region.
He urged the Kuki and Meitei communities to abandon violence, stressing that solutions can only be achieved through dialogue. The ethnic violence, ongoing since May 3 of last year, has claimed over 220 lives and continues to destabilize the region.
Rijiju reiterated the government's readiness to support peace initiatives and underscored the importance of talking to each other to achieve long-lasting peace. He called on the people of Manipur to seize the moment of development and move forward through peaceful means.
