On Wednesday afternoon, a rural bank in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district became the scene of a violent heist. Two men, posing as regular customers, opened fire inside the bank, injuring three people and fleeing with Rs 71,000, according to officials.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Jaiswal reported that the armed criminals injured a bank employee and two women before escaping. Chaos ensued as the robbers carried out their plan and fled the scene. CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify those involved in the crime, the SP said.
Among the injured were Anganwadi worker Jumma Bai, bank employee Banshilal Dayma, and another woman, all of whom are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital. Local resident Mangi Bai recounted the suddenness of the attack, stating that the robbers began firing immediately upon entering the bank. An eyewitness noted that the robbers escaped on a two-wheeler towards Rabdiya village. Meanwhile, police have launched an active manhunt to capture the criminals.
Farmer leader Rajendra Singh Tomar criticized the authorities for the rising incidents of theft and robbery in the district. He alleged that despite referring the issues to the police and administration, no preventive measures have been taken.
