Police Minister Mark Mitchell has praised the Police for their successful operation targeting the leadership of the Comancheros gang. The operation has led to the arrest of a significant portion of the gang's leadership, along with many of its patched members and prospects.

“This is a testament to the capability of our Police and a clear demonstration of this government’s commitment to tackling gangs,” said Minister Mitchell. He highlighted that over 130 charges have been laid against more than 40 gang members, marking a significant achievement for law enforcement.

“These gangs have used their influence to recruit while spreading harm in communities by selling drugs and using violence to intimidate. Their illegal activities have funded extravagant lifestyles,” Mitchell explained.

The Minister emphasized that the Coalition Government is providing the Police with enhanced powers and resources to tackle gang-related crime. This includes the establishment of a national gang unit specifically designed to target priority offenders and dismantle organized crime groups.

“This operation sends a strong message to gangs across the country that their illegal activities will not be tolerated, and with the full support of the government, Police are determined to bring them to justice,” Mitchell stated.
