The Delhi High Court has officially sought responses from the Centre and the Indian Air Force (IAF) following a petition from a woman claiming that the IAF's 'flying branch' vacancies should be filled by qualified women, including herself.

A bench led by Justice Rekha Palli issued the notice, expressing hope that the IAF will fairly examine the issue. The court questioned why qualified women were not being commissioned when existing vacancies could not be filled by male candidates.

The petitioner's application followed an advertisement for the post dated May 17, 2023. She argued that her application was disregarded due to the limited vacancies reserved for female candidates already being filled. The next hearing is scheduled for September 27.
