Iowa Police Officers Hospitalised After Early Morning Shooting

An early morning shooting in Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday resulted in two police officers being hospitalised and the suspect deceased, according to local authorities.
The incident started around 1:40 am when patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle that refused to pull over, leading to a chase. The fleeing vehicle soon crashed, police reported.
As officers approached the driver to make an arrest, the suspect drew a handgun and began shooting. The officers returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect. The injured officers were immediately transported to a hospital and are expected to survive. Investigations are being conducted by the Des Moines police and the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
