A 23-year-old labourer has been apprehended in Ambernath, Thane district for the brutal murder of his employer, a police official confirmed on Monday.

Saleem Yakub Sheikh is accused of killing labour contractor Abdul Rehman with a hammer. The deadly altercation arose after Sheikh's daily wages were cut from Rs 1,000 to Rs 700.

The details of the case were divulged by Senior Inspector Ashok Bhagat of Ambernath police station.
