G7 Condemns Iran's Missile Exports to Russia
The G7 foreign ministers strongly condemned Iran for exporting ballistic missiles to Russia, urging Iran to cease all military support to Russia in its war against Ukraine. The G7 committed to new measures to hold Iran accountable, emphasizing the threat to Ukrainian, European, and global security.
The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) industrialised powers have issued a strong condemnation of Iran's export and Russia's procurement of Iranian ballistic missiles.
The ministers highlighted that Iran has provided Russia with substantial numbers of powerful surface-to-surface ballistic missiles, escalating military cooperation between the two sanctioned nations. They urged Iran to halt all support for Russia's war in Ukraine and to stop the transfer of missiles, UAVs, and related technology, which they termed as a direct threat to Ukrainian, European, and international security.
The G7 ministers asserted their determination to hold Iran accountable for its support of Russia, which they claim undermines global security. The G7 is already implementing new measures in response, with Italy currently holding the group's presidency.
