Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, and MoS PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the Special Campaign 4.0 web-portal today, aimed at monitoring the progress of the government’s drive for Swachhata (cleanliness) and pendency reduction. The campaign will run from 2nd October to 31st October 2024, with a preparatory phase from 16th to 30th September 2024.

The campaign’s main focus is a saturation approach, extending to all field and outstation offices that deliver public services, alongside Central Ministries/Departments and their attached/subordinate offices. The newly launched web-portal—accessible at https://scdpm.nic.in/specialcampaign4/—will track real-time progress, ensuring momentum and accountability. Key Points Highlighted by Dr. Jitendra Singh:

Transformational Change:

Dr. Singh emphasized that the Special Campaign for institutionalizing Swachhata and reducing pendency has transformed public administration. Government offices, once cluttered and disorganized, are now cleaner, more organized, and efficient.

Over the past three years, the campaign has freed 356 lakh sq. ft. of space, generated Rs. 1,162 crore from scrap disposal, and facilitated the weeding out of 96 lakh outdated files.

Enhanced Efficiency:

The campaign has significantly improved workplace management, with 99% of public grievances being resolved during the campaign. Timely disposal of files and reduced backlogs have become routine across departments.

Success through Innovation:

The central coordination by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has been pivotal in streamlining processes, fostering best practices, and promoting innovations in public office management.

Presentations and Addresses: During the launch, Secretary DARPG Shri V. Srinivas presented the objectives and timelines for the successful execution of Special Campaign 4.0. Key government officials, including Shri Anurag Jain (Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways), Smt. Vandita Kaul (Secretary, Department of Posts), and Smt. Aruna Nayar (Secretary, Railway Board), addressed the gathering and shared insights on previous campaigns.

The event was attended by Nodal Officers from 84 Ministries/Departments, marking the beginning of a collective national effort to ensure cleaner, more efficient government offices across India.
