The Delhi BJP on Friday intensified its calls for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's resignation, arguing that the bail conditions in the excise policy case make it impossible for him to perform his official duties.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal in the corruption case filed by the CBI, affirming the conditions set by the ED.
As per the bail terms, Kejriwal cannot visit his office or the Delhi Secretariat, nor can he sign any official documents without the sanction of the lieutenant governor.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva asserted that Kejriwal should step down immediately as he can't execute the responsibilities of the Chief Minister under the imposed restrictions.
Kejriwal, who was previously arrested by the ED in a money laundering case related to the excise policy, was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court while under judicial custody in Tihar Jail.
North East Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari criticized Kejriwal for being the first Chief Minister restricted from signing official files or attending his office due to corruption charges.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP Secretary Bansuri Swaraj accused the Aam Aadmi Party leaders of celebrating Kejriwal's conditional bail, misleading the public regarding the court's decision.
