A local court on Friday rejected the CBI's request to conduct a narco analysis test on Sanjay Roy, the prime suspect in the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar hospital, as confirmed by officials.

Initially, Roy had agreed to undergo the test but later changed his decision, according to CBI sources. The central investigation agency had sought permission from the Sealdah court to carry out the test in a bid to cross-check Roy's statements regarding the case.

During a session with the judge, Roy explicitly refused the test. Narco analysis involves administering sodium pentothal to induce a hypnotic state, helping to neutralize the subject's imagination and elicit true information. The CBI had previously conducted a polygraph test on Roy inside the Presidency Correctional Home and continues to investigate by interviewing staff and examining departments at RG Kar hospital, where the victim's body was discovered.
