Law enforcement agencies in Punjab, Pakistan, neutralized two members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), confiscating explosives and ammunition from their hideout, police reported on Friday.
Based on a tip-off, an operation was conducted in Dera Ghazi Khan, roughly 400 kilometers from Lahore, late Thursday night, according to a spokesman for the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab police.
"In an exchange of fire, two terrorists, presumed to be affiliated with the TTP, were killed on Quetta Road, Dera Ghazi Khan. Two other terrorists escaped, taking advantage of the darkness," the spokesman stated.
Authorities recovered explosives, rifles, bullets, and a hand grenade from the militant hideout, indicating plans to target significant installations and carry out large-scale terror attacks in the province.
The CTD confirmed that further investigations are ongoing and a manhunt has been initiated to apprehend the absconding terrorists.
