The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has mandated uniform rates for activities at cremation grounds within its jurisdiction, according to an official order.

Rates for activities such as fuel wood per quintal at Rs 700, CNG cremation at Rs 1500, and electric cremation at Rs 500, among others, have been slightly reduced. The decision received approval from the competent authority, a senior civic official said.

Previous complaints about certain crematoriums overcharging prompted the MCD to issue this order, insisting on strict implementation of the standardised rates. Boards displaying the updated rates have been placed at all MCD crematoriums, with NGOs managing the operations asked to enforce these rates rigorously.
