In a startling development, a well-known Punjabi singer, Fatehjit Singh, was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi for his supposed role in a fake visa racket. Officials confirmed that Singh was involved in sending people to the United States on fraudulent visas.
Singh, who hails from Jalandhar, had conspired with Sultan Singh and other agents to send individuals to the US through illegal means, known as the 'dunki' route. The police disclosed that Singh, a professional singer who has performed globally, connected with Sultan Singh for financial gains through these illegal activities.
The arrest came after multiple failed attempts to send a passenger, Gurpreet Singh, to the US, during which fraudulent visa documentation was repeatedly flagged by authorities. Investigations are ongoing to identify more individuals involved in this illicit operation, and examine Fatehjit Singh's financial transactions.
