A protest by Hindu outfits at Berasia police station in Bhopal culminated after assurances of strict action against a man accused of sending lewd messages to a teenage girl.

Led by 'Maa Bhavani Hindu Organisation', the protesters alleged the incident was a case of 'love jihad,' a term used by right-wing groups to describe an alleged conspiracy by Muslim men to convert Hindu girls through love marriage.

Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh addressed the protesters from the bonnet of a car, convincing them to disperse. The accused and his two associates were arrested under POCSO and BNS laws for allegedly sending lewd messages and threats to the 15-year-old girl, according to the Berasia Sub Divisional Officer of Police.
