India and China on Thursday committed to accelerating their efforts towards the complete disengagement of troops at the remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh. This commitment followed talks between India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in St Petersburg, Russia.

During the meeting, Doval stressed that peace and tranquility in border areas, along with respect for the Line of Actual Control (LAC), are crucial for the normalization of bilateral ties. The meeting coincided with a conclave of national security advisors of BRICS nations.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted that the Doval-Wang meeting provided a valuable opportunity to review recent efforts and expedite the resolution of outstanding border issues, which are essential for stabilizing and rebuilding India-China relations.
