Government’s New Aadhaar-Based Verification for SSC and UPSC Recruitment

The Indian government has approved the use of Aadhaar-based authentication by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to verify candidates' identities during registration and different stages of examinations. This authorization is voluntary and aims at streamlining the recruitment process.
The Personnel Ministry's notification allows the SSC to use biometric and e-KYC authentication methods. The SSC, which handles selections for non-gazetted posts in multiple central ministries, must adhere to the Aadhaar Act, 2016, and related regulations.
Folloowing the UPSC's earlier adoption of Aadhaar verification, the SSC's move aims to curb identity fraud among candidates. The government hopes these measures will ensure a more transparent recruitment process.
