West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday stated that she was willing to resign for the sake of resolving the impasse with junior doctors, who are protesting over the R G Kar rape-murder case.
Despite waiting for nearly two hours for the doctors to engage in discussions, Banerjee expressed regret over their refusal to come to the meeting. She assured that there would be no action against them for violating the Supreme Court directive by staying away from their duties.
In a dramatic twist, the junior doctors, who arrived at the state secretariat but refused to hold talks unless their meeting was live-streamed, have escalated the protest, causing disruptions in healthcare services across West Bengal. Banerjee urged the doctors to return to work, highlighting the suffering of patients in need of urgent care.
