The North East Students Union (NESO), an umbrella organization representing student bodies from the Northeast region, on Thursday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to step in and help end the ongoing violence in Manipur.
NESO Chairman Samuel Jyrwa stated that the government's failure to tackle the conflict threatens the stability of Manipur and the broader peace and security of the Northeast. 'Despite repeated appeals to the Government of India and the Hon'ble Prime Minister, no decisive intervention has been made,' Jyrwa said.
Jyrwa criticized the Prime Minister's prolonged silence and absence from the troubled region, arguing that it has exacerbated the crisis. He stressed that timely leadership could have prevented the escalation of violence and suffering. NESO continues to advocate for a peaceful resolution through dialogue, aiming to uphold the rights, aspirations, and dignity of all individuals. Jyrwa assured that NESO stands ready to assist the government in any constructive efforts to restore peace in Manipur.
