Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the interim leader of Bangladesh, emphasized his country's desire for equitable international relations, particularly with India, during a televised address on Wednesday.

Following widespread protests that led to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation, Yunus took office on August 8 and received congratulations from global leaders, including India's Narendra Modi and Pakistan's Shehbaz Sharif.

Yunus announced the immediate commencement of high-level discussions with India on flood management and plans to revive SAARC for regional cooperation. He highlighted the formation of six commissions aimed at overhauling key sectors, underlining the goal of equal rights and national reform.
